Some of which are easy to repair, some aren't! A lot of problems will require you to be proficient in micro soldering and component level repair. If you're unsure on whether you can repair the fault you have, it might be better to consult a professional.

Startup Problems

These are issues that occur when the console is first powered on or during the boot process.

Problem Description Solutions
3 Beeps When Plugged In This usually indicates that the BIOS (SPI NOR) has become corrupt, usually due to loss of power during an update.
3 Beeps After White Light Happens because of a short on the LED flex ribbon, usually from incorrect reassembly.
  • Remove the LED flex ribbon and try booting the console
  • Replace the LED flex ribbon
  • Check the LED sub board and connector on the mainboard

Power Faults

These are faults related to power delivery or power management within the PS5.

Problem Description Solutions

  • Test the power supply with a multimeter
  • Inspect the APU and power rail MOSFETs
  • Check for shorted caps on 12V input
Click but No Power The relay in the PSU clicks, but the console doesn't turn on.
  • Check the Southbridge for short circuits
  • Inspect the bridge rectifier and 5V standby rail
  • Replace PSU if necessary
